The Bird Report
Dec. 7, 2004
Birders find Prince Edward Island a feather haven and no wonder! With about 333 species of birds found on the Island, PEI’s natural areas are taken very seriously. Protected and managed, they consist of sand dunes, wetlands, and mixed woodlands. Here, some of nature’s most beautiful birds take up housekeeping.
The Great Blue Heron and Piping Plover are among the vast list of birds making the Island’s natural areas home. Some good birding locations in PEI are Beach Point, Cedar Dunes Provincial Park, Charlottetown Harbour, Founders Lane, Wood Islands, and East Point.
