Gaspee Days
Nov. 23, 2004
Since 1965, residents of Pawtuxet Village have celebrated their American history with Gaspee Days. In 1972 Colonists from Rhode Island burned the British revenue schooner, HMS Gaspee, in what is now recognized as the first overt action leading to the American Revolutionary War. A major attraction is the Gaspee Days parade that takes place the second Saturday in June. Visitors can enjoy attractions as well as see period costumes throughout the event.
