· Gatineau

The museum of Canadian Museum of Civilization features exhibitions depicting the history of Canada and the living history of First Nations people. Other features are the Grand Hall, with its large display of totem poles and the Imax theatre. It is notably the most visited museum in Canada.


The Canadian War Museum commemorates and educates about the military history of Canada from earliest times to the present, documenting how the military events have shaped the country. It houses an extensive collection of artifacts and war art, with one of the most popular exhibits being Hitler's personal limousine.


Casino du Lac-Leamy offers more than just a casino set in a beautiful decor. It is also home to a number of fine restaurants and a state-of-the-art performance hall.


Get a glimpse of the official home and workplace of the Governor General of Canada at the historic residence Rideau Hall. Guided tours are offered on a daily basis in July and August and only on the weekends for the rest of the year.


The award winning architecture of the National Gallery of Canada, with the Great Hall and spacious galleries, is reason alone to visit the museum. But stay and look around at the permanent and temporary exhibits, home to the most comprehensive collection of Canadian art in the world. It also features a strong American Modern art collection, with some of Andy Warhol's most famous work.


Travel along the Gatineau River from Hull to Wakefield on the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train, one of last working authentic steam trains in Canada. The trip offers on-board tour guides and live entertainment. The train runs from May to October.


Gatineau Park, located only fifteen minutes from downtown, offers a host of outdoor activities for every season.  In the summer swim in one of the park's lakes supervised by on-duty lifeguards, in the winter cross-country ski the nearly 200 kilometers of trails that are graded and marked on their level of difficulty. All activities offer an opportunity to discover the park's forests, meadows and valleys, and lakes. There is also a visitors centre located at the entrance of the park.


· Wakefield

Worth a visit simply for its picturesque surroundings, the village of Wakefield also offers a historic covered bridge, an old mill, the art scene and the assortment of small boutiques. Arrive in style with the Hull-Chelsea-Wakefield Steam Train.

· Val-des-Monts

With caves dating back 12,000 to 20,000 years and trails leading up in the sky through the trees with over 82 suspension bridges, the Aventure Lafleche is a great place for groups to learn and be active. Discover the largest natural cave in the Canadian Shield and learn more about the geological and historical evolution. The Aerial Park offers you some incredible views of the Laurentian forest.


· Montebello

Park Omega takes you down a 10km (6mi) winding road in your vehicle, while you discover animals living in the wild. You will see animals such as the bison, deer, black bear, moose and wolves in their natural habitat. There is also a moose-observation walking trail to discover on foot.


The historic manor that once belonged to politician and lord of the Petite-Nation Louis-Joseph Papineau is now a historical site and offers guided tours of the magnificent interior. The Manoir Papineau National Historic Site is open from May to October and occasionally accepts groups during the off-season.


World famous Château Montebello is known for being the largest log cabin. It has played host to the events of the 1983 NATO Nuclear Planning Group, and the G7 Economic Summit in 1981.


· Maniwaki

Aboriginal cultural attraction Mawandoseg Kitigan Zibi offers its visitors an interactive and educational experience. Discover the traditional way of life for the Anishinabeg from making drums to hearing traditional stories in a wigwam.


Château Logue Interpretive Centre is one of Maniwaki's primary tourist attractions. It houses the Forest Fire Protection Museum, which provides an educational history of the relationship between humans, the forests and the fires. The interpretive centre is also home to traveling art exhibits, picnic areas and bilingual tours.


Take an aerial hike through a white pine forest at Forêt de l’Aigle. The pleasant walk will be led by a guide and the path through the trees varies from 6 to 20m in height.


· Montcerf-Lytton

The Baskatong reservoir is a huge stretch of water with fine sand beaches, 2,800km (1750mi) of shoreline and over 150 islands. The reservoir is best know for fishing, though it offers a lot more. On dry land there are nature walks, berry picking or bird-watching, out on the water you can sail, water-ski or kayak, or simply lie on some of the most beautiful beaches in Québec.
