Winnipeg Folk Festival
May. 14, 2007
The Winnipeg Folk Festival began in 1974, and was intended to be a one-time event to celebrate the city’s Centennial. About 50 acts performed that year, and 22,000 concert-goers attended. Since then, the festival has grown to be a world-famous annual event, with as many as 60,000 people in attendance, showcasing up to 250 artists on seven different stages. In addition to music from performers from all over the world, the Festival features the “Hand Made Village”, a collection of crafts from local and international artisans, and the “Food Village”, with culinary offerings to satisfy any palate. Two camping areas are located at the Festival grounds, and several hotels are nearby. Your group will love the chance to visit this musical and cultural wonderland!
