Burgess Shale Fossils
Located in Yoho National Park, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is widely believed to contain the world’s finest Cambrian-aged fossils of softbodied marine organisms. A complete ecosystem of diverse animals are preserved in the shales, and visitors can gain insight into what life was like on Earth over 500 million years ago. Fossils can be viewed only by guided tour, with tours departing once a day.
