Craigellachie
In 1885, Craigellachie was the famed site of the “Lake Spike” in the Canadian Pacific Railway that finally joined east to west, making Canada’s first transcontinental railway. It was one of the most challenging engineering feats of the century, and the historic Craigellachie spike was one of the greatest symbolic acts in Canada’s early history. Visitors today can enjoy a recreated period train station, picnic grounds and monuments.
