Wood Buffalo National Park

At just under 45,000 sq. km, Wood Buffalo National Park is the largest national park in Canada, and one of the largest in the world. Established in 1922 to protect the free-roaming bison herds of the area as well as providing a safe nesting haven for the very rare Whooping Cranes. Today the park attracts visitors from around the world who want to experience and learn about the boreal north, its unique cultures, variety of wildlife and beautiful landscapes.
