Athabasca Oil Sands Site Tours
Over 38,500 sq. km of oil rich sand are found north of Fort McMurray and are being actively mined. The oil is extracted from the sand, and further refined into synthetic crude oil. The Oil Sands Discovery Centre is filled with informative displays, demonstrations and video presentation offering a first-hand look into the story of the Oil Sands. Tours offered weekends from May until September. Advanced booking required.
