Cape Bonavista Lighthouse Provincial Historic Site

Cape Bonavista is where John Cabot made landfall in 1497 and in 1843 the lighthouse was built. This Provincal Historic Site includes an interpretation centre and gift shop as well as interpretative story boards which feature the whales, birds and icebergs found in the area. Your group can experience the lifestyle of a 19th-century lighthouse keeper. Nearby, in the municipal park, is a statue of John Cabot. Tour the lighthouse with interpreters in period costume, Interpretation Centre and gift shop.
