By Air

Wherever you're departing from, there's a wide variety of international and connector airlines at your service - Air Canada, Air Canada Jazz, Porter Airlines, Provincial Airlines, and Air Labrador provide seamless travel to and within the province. From anywhere in Canada, from all across North America, from major gateways and cities, in the USA, and from Northern Europe, there are flights to bring you here.



Connections are available from many countries around the world through London, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and Newark to the province. Air Canada Jazz, Provincial Airlines and Air Labrador, provide regular service within Newfoundland & Labrador. Air Labrador also offers service to many points within Labrador. Provincial Airlines also operates regular scheduled service from St. John’s to points in Newfoundland & Labrador and to Montréal, QC, Blanc Sablon, QC and Sept. Iles, QC.

By Land

The Trans Canada Highway (#104 to #105) in Nova Scotia links to Newfoundland via the Marine Atlantic Ferries departing from North Sydney, Nova Scotia (see below for more details). Labrador is also now accessible via the Trans-Labrador Highway, which connects Goose Bay to the province of Quebec.

Within Newfoundland & Labrador - The Trans-Canada Highway (Route 1) crosses Newfoundland west to east from Port aux Basques to St. John's, a distance of 905 kilometres. Secondary highways along the route provide many fascinating, "off-thebeaten-track" side trips.

Route 510, This road begins in L’Anse-au-Clair in Southern Labrador, an area know as the Labrador Coastal Drive and extends north to Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Route 500 is a gravel road that crosses Labrador from Happy Valley-Goose Bay in the east to Labrador City/Wabush in the west and connects to Quebec Route 389. The road is sometimes soft in spring, and passable only by four-wheel drive vehicles. Distance is approximately 525 kilometres and travel times of 9 hours should be expected.

From Labrador West you can drive into Quebec on partially paved Route 389 which runs 581 kilometres to Baie Comeau on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River. Anticipated travel time is 8.5 hours.

Highway Cameras:
In an effort to provide the motoring public in the province with the most up-to-date road and driving conditions, the Department of Transportation and Works has installed digital cameras at fifteen sites along the Trans Canada Highway (TCH) and major routes on the island, as well as five sites in Labrador. By Sea

Nova Scotia to Newfoundland - Marine Atlantic provides a vital marine transportation link between the Island of Newfoundland and the Canadian mainland. Daily service is provided year-round between Port aux Basques in southwestern Newfoundland and North Sydney, NS. A summer season route provides tri-weekly crossings from North Sydney to Argentia, NL located 90 minutes from St. John’s. The vessels offer a wide variety of onboard features; including private cabins, dormitory sleepers, cafeteria style dining, bar service, live entertainment (summer season), movies, and children’s activities.

Strait of Belle Isle
There is daily ferry service in summer between St. Barbe on Newfoundland's Viking Trail and Blanc Sablon on the Quebec-Labrador border. Take this ferry to reach Route 510. Crossing time 90 minutes.
