Scheduled air service into Nova Scotia is available from all major Canadian cities and from all major U.S. cities through connecting hubs at Boston, Newark, New York, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. Limousine service and car rentals are available at the Halifax Stanfield International, Yarmouth and Sydney airports. Airporter Inc. provides shuttle service to and from various hotels in the Metro Area. Core hours of operation are 6:30am -1:30am. Children under 10 years of age accompanied by an adult ride for free. For more information, call 902-873-2091. The shuttle has a regular departure schedule from Halifax Stanfield International Airport to Metro Halifax.

Acadian Lines provides province-wide bus service, including service to and from The Halifax Stanfield International Airport. For more information, call 902-454-9321.

Other Shuttle Buses service Halifax Airport on a regular basis. Shuttles depart several times daily for Sydney, Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth, Truro and Prince Edward Island, just to name a few destinations! For more information on these bus services contact the Information Booth at 902-873-1223.

Highways from all points in the United States and Canada join the Trans Canada Highway from New Brunswick into Nova Scotia.

Greyhound from New York and Orleans Express from Montreal connect with Acadian Lines in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. At Amherst, intra-provincial bus lines link most major communities.

Regular bus service connects the metro Halifax area with other parts of the province.

Entry Points

Digby is the terminal for the ferry, arriving daily from Saint John, New Brunswick.

Amherst is the first community you enter after crossing the border from New Brunswick, on Trans Canada Highway 104. Two scenic travelways begin at Amherst: the Sunrise Trail along Route 6, and the Glooscap Trail along Route 2.

Tidnish is the first community after you enter Nova Scotia coming from Confederation Bridge/PEI via New Brunswick’s Route 16.

Caribou is the terminal for ferries which arrive daily from Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island, between May 1 and mid-December. Hwy 106 leads from the terminal to the Pictou Rotary and the Sunrise Trail.

North Sydney is the terminal of the ferry service from Port-aux-Basques and Argentia, Newfoundland. North Sydney is at the eastern end of Trans Canada Highway 105.
