Information

Beaubears Island was used as a camping site by the Mi'Kmaq for centuries. The island also served as a temporary safe haven for Acadians expelled from the area in 1755. Many Acadian families were forced to flee their homes and hide in camps along the Miramichi River. Plaques in Bicentennial Park in Miramichi and on the island commemorate the area's historic significance. Experience the island's natural beauty while walking along the central trail. Enjoy a picnic amid the tranquil pine forest. Located 1.5 hours north of Moncton, one hr. south of Bathurst. Access by private boat or charter only.
