Dig into the darkest years of Alberta’s past… when coal was king in the Drumheller valley! The Atlas Coal Mine preserves the last of 139 Drumheller mines. Don a miner’s lamp and go “up the underground” through a 210 foot inclined mine tunnel. Climb into a coal car, and let an 80 year old battery locomotive take you away on a 40 minute tour of the stunning historic landscape. Climb the wooden tipple, and hear the stories of men who dug the black. Located 15 minutes from downtown Drumheller at historic East Coulee.
